Doula Services

Your birth matters.

We know that how you experience your baby’s birth can have a long-lasting impact on your mental health, physical heath, bonding with your baby, and the health and wellbeing of the whole family. Every parent deserves to be supported, informed, and treated with respect during such a vulnerable and powerful life transition. We provide empathetic and knowledgable continuous labor support so you can begin your parenting journey (whether for the 1st or 5th time) with confidence and self-compassion.

What is a doula?

"Like travel guides in a foreign country, birth and postpartum doulas help support new families through the life changing experience of having a baby!" -DONA International

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.

During Your Pregnancy

  • A free no-obligation consultation to get to know us and learn about what it is like to work with us.

  • After hiring, we provide a two prenatal meetings, one with Ginger and one with Brenda. During these meetings we discuss your priorities and preferences for your birth, address concerns and fears, review the basics of labor, practice comfort measures, and more.

  • Unlimited text/phone/email support to answer your questions, make referrals, and provide insight and encouragement.

During Labor

  • During early labor, before you need in-person support, we provide generous text/phone support. This helps our clients feel confident and calm in the early stages of labor!

  • When in-person support is needed, either Brenda or Ginger will join you and provide continuous support for the duration of your labor. This support includes physical support for comfort and labor progress, informational support to help you understand the process of labor, and emotional support to help you and your partner feel calm and confident.

Postpartum

  • Your doula will stay with you for the immediate postpartum period. This may include additional support and help with breastfeeding, if desired.

  • Within the first two weeks, the doula who attended your birth will do one in-home visit to discuss the birth experience, offer insight, help with any feeding or care challenges, and offer any community referrals that may be necessary.
